It was a great loss to our society when Dr. Nick Tscarios, affectionately called Dr. Nick, recently passed away after decades of valuable service to the New Vrindaban community. He will be remembered as a loving friend and a generous well-wisher of the devotees.
Married to Ambudhara Dasi (Deborah), a disciple of Srila Prabhupada, he was an integral part of the devotee community, serving as an artist and doctor. He delivered several hundred children of New Vrindaban over the past five decades, provided medical care and supplies to devotees or referred them to alternative healing methods and practitioners in the society, and was always eager to serve their medical needs, making him a much loved member of the New Vrindaban family.
In his last years, one of his significant contributions was the refurbishing of the temple room stain-glass windows and pictures. Using his brilliant artistic skills, he repaired and replaced the broken stain-glass windows and pictures, giving the temple room a complete overhaul and fresh appearance.
Many devotees and friends attended Dr. Nick’s memorial service on June 21 to offer their homage, which was appreciated by his wife and family. His wife, Ambudhara Dasi, commented: “It was a beautiful evening of friendship and support, and I know he would have been truly amazed by the number of people from all around that came to honor him. We are so thankful to have great friends who took days out of their busy lives: Sudanu, Lajavati, Advaita, Madri, Kutila, and Kuladri who spent many hours creating the wonderful preparations we all loved , and to all the other wonderful cooks and bakers who cooked for the event and added to the amazing buffet assembled. Our hearts were warmed and comforted by the very nice talks by Varsana Maharaja and Yudhisthira Prabhu. The musicians did a great job, and I want to thank my son-in-law Brian and daughter Nika for compiling the playlist that Nick would have loved. It was a wonderful event that will be remembered forever by our family, and we are grateful beyond words to have your association.”
We will miss you Dr. Nick, but we know that you are eternally under the shelter of Sri Sri Vrindaban Chandra where there is no reason for lamentation and where spiritual joy abounds.
