At the end of the Living Name Retreat on Mother’s Day weekend this year, participants wrote letters to their future selves, which they would receive by mail three months after the retreat. This was done in an effort to inspire themselves to continue with what they had learned and imbibed at the retreat—the wonderful effects of the holy name and the realizations that came from connecting deeply with the holy name. Three months later, as promised, their letters were offered to Lord Balarama on Balarama Purnima and then mailed to them.
Hearing of this, His Holiness Sacinandana Swami, the facilitator of the event, wrote: “I saw the pictures on Balarama’s Appearance Day and I immediately prayed so that the receivers of the letters will be blessed with the spiritual strength of Lord Balarama to implement their own suggestions to themselves, written in the highly inspired state, just at the end of the retreat. . . All of us—organizers, helpers, artists, and the presenter—are humble servants of the Holy Name and the Vaishnavas. I have no doubt in my mind that all of us together can really make a difference in devotees’ lives and create something beautiful and lasting with the retreat. I am looking forward to the next retreat.”
How wonderful it is to implement this example of “following up” in our services, knowing that the devotees and community will benefit from our earnest endeavors.
Registration for Part 3 of the Living Name Retreat 2020 will open soon. Please stay tuned to the New Vrindaban website and Facebook page.
