Holiday Retreats Usher in the New Year
The Christmas and New Year retreats were an ideal start to the new year and were well attended. The highlights were the family yoga sessions for adults and children together with cooking classes, emphasizing cooking with devotion for the Lord. The children’s devotion was also revived with learning to do aratis and bathing of Govardhana silas. The astrology classes gave insights into channelling our natures, inclinations, and gifts in the proper direction and ultimately for the benefit of our spiritual journey and perfection.
We are happy to announce that the renovation of the guest wing of the temple, which has been expanded with new attached bathrooms is well underway. The third floor of the temple is also being renovated with two additional rooms, one additional office, a remodeled bathroom, and new storage facilities for festivals. The INV Board is looking into the possibility of building new apartment houses on the hill.
A recent census made by Sukhavaha Devi Dasi revealed that the community in New Vrindaban consists of 235 devotees, a steady increase over the last seven years. May Srila Prabhupada and Sri Sri Radha Vrindaban Chandra bless them for their wonderful service and continue to inspire them in their devotion and dedication to Srila Prabhupada’s mission.
We are pleased to let you know that the Jan/Feb new year issue of Back to Godhead features an article on 50 years of cow protection in New Vrindaban called “Bovinely Inspired: New Vrindaban’s Care for Cows.” Written by Satyaraja Das and Caitanya Mangala Das, the article is a wonderful beginning to the year-long celebration as it will proclaim Srila Prabhupada’s vision of creating a world of peace and harmony serving Krishna’s cows.
